The Henry Paul Band was formed in the winter of 1977. Guitarist/vocalist Jim Fish moved back to Tampa and guitarist Billy Crain arrived just weeks later from Memphis where he was working with Bobby Whitlock. Bass player/singer Wally Dentz moved to Tampa from the "Space Coast" as did drummer Bill Hoffman. I met keyboardist/singer Barry Rapp through a good friend and the line up for the HPB was complete. We rehearsed in a shed at a friends house out in an orange grove and made our debut at a club in the spring of 1978. We signed a record deal with Atlantic Records later that year and went on to record and tour for the next five years.
